Call forwarding is the simplest way to redirect calls arriving on your Kallin numbers to wherever you or your team are available to answer. Whether you want all calls to go straight to a mobile, ring multiple team members at once, or fall back to another number if the first doesn’t pick up, forwarding settings give you that flexibility in a few clicks — no complex routing rules required.

Forwarding Types

Kallin supports five forwarding modes. Choose the one that matches how you want incoming calls to behave:

Setting Up a Forward

1

Go to Numbers and click on the number you want to configure

In the Kallin dashboard, select Numbers from the left-hand menu. Click on the specific number you want to set up forwarding for to open its settings.
2

Select Forwarding from the number settings

Inside the number settings panel, click the Forwarding tab. Any forwarding rules already active on this number are displayed here.
3

Choose forwarding type

Select the forwarding type that matches your needs from the dropdown — Unconditional, No-Answer, Busy, Simultaneous Ring, or Sequential Ring.
4

Enter the destination number

Type the number you want to forward calls to. The destination must be a valid UK phone number in standard format, including the area code (e.g. 020 7946 0101 or 07700 900123). See International Forwarding below if you need to forward to a non-UK number.
5

For no-answer forward, set the ring time

If you selected No-Answer Forward, choose how many seconds the destination should ring before the call is forwarded. We recommend 20–30 seconds — long enough for someone to reach their phone, but short enough that callers aren’t left waiting too long.
6

Save and test

Click Save Forwarding. Make a test call to your Kallin number to confirm the call routes to the destination as expected. If you’re using no-answer forwarding, let the call ring through without answering to verify the fallback also works.

Simultaneous Ring

Simultaneous Ring is particularly useful for sales teams or shared lines where you want the first available person to answer, regardless of which device they’re on. Key details for Simultaneous Ring:
  • You can add up to 10 destination numbers to a simultaneous ring group.
  • All destination numbers ring at the same time as soon as a call arrives on your Kallin number.
  • The first destination to answer takes the call; all other ringing destinations are cancelled immediately.
  • If no destination answers, the call falls through to whatever no-answer fallback you’ve configured (such as voicemail or a voicemail box).
  • Destination numbers can be any valid UK landline or mobile — they don’t need to be Kallin numbers.
To add destinations, click Add Destination in the Simultaneous Ring configuration and enter each number in turn.

International Forwarding

Kallin supports forwarding calls to international numbers. To forward to a number outside the UK, enter the destination in international format, including the country code (e.g. +353 1 234 5678 for an Irish number). Please be aware that forwarding to international destinations may incur higher per-minute call charges compared to UK-to-UK forwarding. Your current per-minute rates for international forwarding are shown in the Billing section of the dashboard. Check these rates before enabling international forwarding on a busy number to avoid unexpected charges.
Avoid infinite forwarding loops. Do not configure a forwarding destination that itself forwards calls back to the same Kallin number. This creates a loop where the call bounces indefinitely between numbers, consuming minutes and preventing the caller from ever getting through. If you suspect a loop, disable forwarding on the affected number immediately and review the routing chain end to end.
Combine forwarding with time-based Call Routing rules for a powerful out-of-hours setup. Create a routing rule that sends calls to your office landline during business hours, then automatically switches to a mobile number — or straight to voicemail — after hours and at weekends. This way, you maintain a single number for callers while your team always receives calls on the right device at the right time.

Call Routing

Build advanced routing rules using time, day, caller ID, and more — beyond simple forwarding.

IVR Menus

Add an IVR menu before forwarding to let callers self-select the right destination.
